Louis Moto's prices are competitive, and its telephone customer services advisers are helpful. its good service is let down by its choice of courier in the UK whose accounting team and local depot fall short of being totally useless! I had to pay VAT and other import duties, which Louis Moto repaid to me with a couple of days of me send it the relevant receipts. Parcelforce, then retained my order on the basis of me not having paid the necessary fees despite me having legitimate Parcelforce receipts proving that all import duties and VAT had been paid. It took several weeks, daily telephone calls and many formal complaints to Parcelforce before my order was released to me. Parcelforce tarnished my customer experience with Louis Moto but despite Parcelforce's negative impact on Louis Moto's brand with me I will continue to order from Louis Moto, but I will not be making any 'mega orders' if Parcelforce remains its UK courier.

Despite goods clearly advertised as VAT and duty paid for UK customers, items were retained by parcelforce pending payment of VAT and duty!! Customer services contacted for advice and I was asked to pay the additional sum to parcelforce in order to receive the goods and then submit receipt and proof of payment for a refund! I don’t have the additional £100+ available to pay this sum and advised customer service accordingly. Customer service then agreed to pay parcelforce directly. That would have been great, but the delays in delivery and dealing with the matter meant that I was no longer going to receive the panniers in time to for my imminent departure on a trip. I advised customer service accordingly and requested that the order is cancelled and I would like a refund. I was then shocked to be advised that I would only receive a refund once the goods were returned to Louis ! I’ve paid for the goods in full - including VAT and duty, never received them and now have to wait weeks for a refund in the hope that parcelforce eventually return them to sender!! I am not at fault in any way here but am the only loser from this shocking experience! The advertising for ‘VAT and duty included’ prices is incorrect and misleading. I am extremely disappointed with my experience and treatment. I am currently nearly £400 out of pocket - money which was paid for on credit and which I will have to pay interest on until it is eventually refunded. I have a duty to share this experience and issue a warning to all my fellow bikers in the UK through the various forums and groups that I contribute to.

UK Customers beware of import duties.

Service from Louis-Moto has been perfect and my goods arrived safely today. I knock off a star because the Web address is www.louis-moto.co.uk and I specifically noted this point when ordering, however, Louis-Moto is in fact in Germany and this has resulted in me paying VAT both in Germany and in UK equalling an extra £46.23 plus a Clearance fee of £12.00. When you assume you are dealing with a company within UK an extra £58.23 becomes uncompetitive. i now understand the double taxation only applies on good valued in excess of £135 so not all purchases would be affected but UK customers should take such costs into account. I accept I should have been more careful but I do feel the .CO.UK web address gives customers a bum steer.

Customer Services at their best.

Quick response to processing and despatch of my order. Maintained constant communications on order status. Unfortunately despite Louis stating on their site that there would be "no hidden surprises" in regards to customs costs for UK delivery; my goods were delayed in the UK and I recieved a customs bill to pay before my goods could be delivered. I paid the bill and informed Louis of the situation; their Customer Services reacted within minutes of my e mail and requested a copy of the customs bill so they could reimburse me the costs. Communications and customer services have been second to none and I would certainly use them again. The Givi top box I purchased is excellent and arrived well packaged and in perfect condition.

Well probably not what you want to hear, initially the cost was a factor, but became a grind. Why you despatched goods very quickly but your advert stated the cost I saw was inc everything duty import fees costs. So I was pleased. Then the problems started shipped very quickly despatched to courier sent to UK then the problems. Went to uk distribution sat there sat there was told I’d get a letter regard reason for hold up. Customs duty no letter arrived id to chase up finally having to pay£128 odds to get delivery got them a week later. As of now 2 weeks still waiting on the refund to my card promised by you staff. To be fair all the problems started in uk. Apart from failure to pay my refund as yet.

Good prices and stock, allow for customs charges to UK.

Good stock held and good priced, because I couldn't find the specific mounting plate in stock anywhere else. Delivery took 2 weeks to the UK but I had to pay just over £100 in customs charges before it was released to me in the UK. I wasn't aware of this since I don't order stuff often and not really Louis motorrad's fault, although a warning of customs charges and rough estimate of costs would have been nice. For me I had to pay an extra 25% of the purchase price on customs charges so any money I saved on this site didn't matter anymore. Products all as described, Givi topbox all mounted to the bike with no issues.

It is particularly useful that the company still deals with the UK - other companies that I previously used (before Brexit!!) no longer do. Also, the service provided is very good, again in comparison to a couple of other EU companies that I still use. Taxes, etc are all included in the price (but you are charged in euros, so watch the exchange rate). On the (slightly!) negative side, there is the need to be careful around some of the prices - most are clearly 'good' but some do seem to be high in relation to UK prices for similar items. Just a matter of double-checking prices elsewhere if you are at all in doubt.

First Order

Purchasing from the UK, I was at first sceptical of the claim that Louis Moto would reimburse any customs and charges i might incur. I need not have worried, their communication from day one of my order was excellent. I was unlucky and did incur customs charges. Janice in customer support was totally professional and fast to reply to emails and deal with the charges which were reimbursed within 24 hours. I cant fault that level of service! The website is also as good, easy to navigate plenty of choice and fair prices. Very very impressed with Louis Moto. Thank you for a first class experience.

Great price for a Held Hakuna 2 textile jacket, quick delivery, cheaper than buying in the Uk ( even with the current sale prices in the UK ) I had to pay the import duties and Vat prior to delivery, but this was quickly refunded as per their listings, they will currently pay any duties & fees associated to delivery in the UK. Very prompt email responses from the sales department etc, overall a great experience & will be looking to get the trousers when funds allow :-) directly from them. Thanks Andy.

Range and price of products poor delivery

Range and price of products. However the down side is the shipping to the UK. Item was shipped by DHL and a tracking number was given. I was able to track it to the local depot then it said "Delivery not possible." No explanation why it could not be delivered or where it was. It was impossible to contact DHL and I mean IMPOSSIBLE. After contacting Louis Moto it turns out the parcel had been handed over to Parcelforce. Moto did sort it out but it would make me wary of using them again

Fantastic prices & great service too.

Fantastic price. Speedy delivery. 24 hour responses to all emails. Everything that you hope for in a bike gear retailer... but don't always get! This isn't my first purchase from these guys, and I've been just as pleased each time. For us UK bikers Moto-Luis guarantee to refund any/all customs charges that may occur (and they did so, very promptly), which means when you pay the price advertised and not a penny more... and their prices are VERY VERY competitive. Thank you Moto-Luis.

The specimen answer of motorcycle shops. It's not even in my country but they are so organised, very well priced and they have regular sales of old kit. Despite being overseas even the returns process is almost entirely done for you on the website including the customs form and good clear English instructions. I get promotional emails from them. Most places I buy from I turn that off - but these ones I actually read. If you haven't got it I am really impressed with this place.

Just a great seller!!!

After all the bad reviews left on trustpilot placed during the Brexit exit period where 90% of international shipments to UK were simply delayed and lost, decided to share my own experience with this seller. So. overall, seller as seller, you buy, they send you stuff, but most surprised I was, that I received my parcel from Germany to UK on second working day (ordered Friday, received Monday) where I actually expected weeks! Will buy again! Definitely a good seller! :) Thanks

Great service and delivery. Only one thing - purchased a helmet and assumed as the website was .co.uk that the helmet would come with the ACU Gold British Motorcycle Sport label for the UK market. This means that we will have to try and get it approved for use before an event as it will not be passed by technical control. This may be something you would like to improve when selling to the uk. Other than that a great service and happy with purchase.

Great experience buying through this company. Ordered online and was updated regularly with processing details. Emailed them as I thought it wasn't being delivered but it was being held at customs, paid the fees and it was delivered as expected. Emailed them again regarding the refund of customs payment and that was dealt with the same day. Can't fault the customer service from start to finish. Would definitely recommend and use again.

The communication regarding the delivery was very good and allayed any worries I had about extra taxes that might be due, as the items were being imported. The items arrived very quickly considering that they came all the way from Germany to Scotland. (Scotland's first match in the Euros is against Germany!) Also pleased that the product was the latest model of the Givi tank bag, which I wasn't quite sure about from the advert.

Brilliant... despite BREXIT!

I've used LM for a few years. Always well priced even to the UK with very fast and secure delivery. Post BREXIT it was all up in the air and I'm not sure how LM do it, but still maintain great service and pricing. The price on the website is all that you pay. LM will and does pay any UK import and VAT costs that your purchase may attract. Surprising none of the other EU sellers haven't adopted the LM business model.

Customer service is very good indeed!

Customer service is very good indeed - all enquiries were answered quickly and communication is good. Unfortunately I will have to return my order but the shop was efficient to deal with and goods were as described. My only slight criticism is that when I placed the order it was not immediately apparent that the centre stand was not in stock and a wait of 5 weeks ensued. All in all a positive experience!

Would definitely recommend - no custom charges for UK customers!

Package came quickly and was one of the most hassle-free delivery I've ever had from Europe! I'm always filled with dread when I buy from Europe these days due to the custom charges, but with Louis, I know this will not be an issue and that they will get things sorted swiftly. Considering that I ordered this also right after Christmas, getting it by January 2 was amazing! Will definitely shop here again.

Good product information and secure delivery

Good product information and secure package and posting. I want my MC accessories to be reliable and certified. By ordering my parts from Louis I have the assurance that they are compliant and type approved for my motorcycle, something which is not always certain with ordering from other online platforms. I can go on European trips, knowing that my lighting etc. satisfy the local safety requirements

Fast customer service

New exhaust delivered from Germany to UK in just over a week. Had to pay VAT and customs charges to parcelforce but that was refunded by Louis Moto after goods were released/received. Staff were excellent and fast to process the VAT refund and any questions I had. Would definitely recommend and will absolutely order from this business again

Confusing policy for customs charges

Confusing policy regarding the refund of customs charges: sometimes Louis pays for them, sometimes they ask the customer to pay for them and then refund the customer. However, it's not clear which case applies when and it's not clear how long they will take to process the refund to the customer, if they ask the customer to pay.
